A master tiler from the Eure, close to Évreux

Based in Louviers, about 25 km from Évreux, we can come and see your project quickly, follow every stage closely and stay reachable after the work. We work in the towns of Évreux Portes de Normandie and across the rest of the Eure, in houses and apartments, in renovations and new builds.

Every project starts with a visit: we measure the rooms, check the substrate and discuss the tiles, the format and the layout with you. The quote that follows details preparation, laying, grouting and finishing, item by item. To save time, see what information to prepare for a quote.

Old houses: preparing before tiling

Longhouses, village houses and half-timbered houses often have uneven floors: old terracotta tiles, slabs laid straight on the ground, cracked screeds or timber floors upstairs. Before any tiling, we check the flatness, cohesion and moisture of the substrate, because an uninsulated slab can let damp rise.

Depending on the diagnosis, the floor is reworked with a screed or levelling compound, or the old covering is kept if it is sound and firmly bonded, as we explain in our article on tiling over existing tiles. On the walls, uneven surfaces are straightened before the wall tiles go up.

New houses: large formats and underfloor heating

In recent houses around Évreux, open-plan living rooms and heated floors have become common. Large-format tiles give a continuous surface with few joints, provided the screed drying time is respected and the heating is started up according to the planned procedure.

We then use a suitable adhesive, place the movement joints where they are needed and prepare the layout plan so that joints line up from room to room. For a screed to create or rework, our guide to screed and levelling costs gives benchmarks.

Terraces and outdoor tiling in the Eure

Frequent rain and winter frost: a terrace in the Eure needs frost-resistant, low-porosity, slip-resistant tiles, laid with enough fall for water not to sit. We lay terraces bonded to a slab, on a mortar bed or as 2 cm slabs on pedestals, as well as steps, outdoor staircases and private pool surrounds.

The right slip rating and water absorption are on the technical data sheet: our article on UPEC, R11 and PEI ratings explains how to read them. Laying details are on our terrace and outdoor tiling page.

Bathrooms and walk-in showers

For a bathroom renovation, we take care of the whole room: strip-out, plumbing changes, waterproofing under the tiles, floor and wall tiling, then refitting of the sanitaryware. You have a single contact, from the substrate to the finish.

A walk-in shower is designed around the space available and the height under the floor: tileable tray or built-up fall, point drain or channel drain. The photos in our projects show several bathrooms and showers we have tiled.

What a tiler costs in Évreux

In the Eure, as in the rest of the provinces, labour is on average cheaper than in Île-de-France, where it is 20 to 30% higher. The price of a job depends mainly on the format, the laying pattern, the condition of the substrate and the area to cover.

Our guides to tiling costs per m², walk-in shower costs and bathroom renovation costs give the average ranges seen in France. Only a quote drawn up after a visit is binding.

Frequently asked questions about our jobs in Évreux

Are you far from Évreux?

No. Beyazgul Carrelage is based in Louviers, about 25 km from Évreux. We work throughout the area and the Eure, and we also travel to Paris and across Île-de-France. For a job close by, the visit and the follow-up of the work are all the easier to organise.

Can tiles be laid over old terracotta tiles?

Sometimes. The old tiles must be sound, firmly bonded and clean: we tap-test them one by one, then degrease or sand them if they have been waxed, before applying a suitable primer. If many sound hollow or the floor is very uneven, it is better to remove them or rework the substrate.

Which tiles should you choose for a terrace in Normandy?

A frost-resistant, very low-porosity porcelain with an outdoor slip rating such as R11. It is laid on a slab with a fall towards the outside, or as thick slabs on pedestals. Avoid very smooth finishes, which become slippery in the rain and with moss.

Can you tile in a half-timbered house?

Yes. A timber-framed house moves more than a concrete building and its floors are rarely flat: we check how rigid the floors are and how damp the ground floor is, then choose a preparation that absorbs these movements, such as an uncoupling membrane, with flexible joints along the walls and the timbers.
