Planning your project
Tiling quote: what information should you prepare?
An accurate quote starts with a clear description of the project. By preparing a few details before our first conversation, you save time and get a proposal that truly matches the work you have in mind.
AI-edited imageDescribe the rooms and surfaces
Start by listing the areas involved: floor, walls, splashback, shower, terrace. For each one, note the approximate dimensions or the area in square metres. A simple sketch with the main measurements, doors and windows often says more than a long description.
Add a few photos taken from a distance, then close-ups of the tricky areas: thresholds, steps, corners, boxing-in or exposed pipes.
If several rooms are involved, tell us which ones should be finished first. This helps us organise the work so that you can keep living in your home during the project.
Describe the existing substrate
The substrate directly affects the preparation work, and therefore the quote. Tell us what is currently on the floor or wall:
- a concrete slab, a screed, a timber floor or old tiles;
- any cracks, hollow areas or changes in level;
- a covering that needs removing before the work;
- underfloor heating, if there is any.
If you know how old the property is or exactly what the slab is made of, mention that too. These details help us anticipate any levelling, flatness correction or removal work. They will be checked during the site visit in any case.

Specify the tiles and the timing
If you have already chosen your tiles, send us the reference, size and finish, and tell us who is supplying them: you or the tiler. The tile size and the laying pattern (straight, offset or herringbone) affect the working time and the quantity to order, as extra must be allowed for cuts.
Feel free to attach inspiration photos too: an atmosphere, a laying pattern, a grout colour. They add useful detail to the description and let us advise you from our very first conversation.
Finally, think about the finishing touches: skirting, edge trims, grout colour. Let us know when you would like the work done, any access constraints and whether other trades are involved, such as a plumber or an electrician. With this information, we prepare a detailed, clear quote, which we fine-tune with you after the visit.
