Light wood-effect tiled floor in a half-timbered house with stone infill walls

A master tiler based in Louviers

Louviers is our base: from here we work across the Seine-Eure area, along the Seine valley, in Évreux, about 25 km away, and further afield in Paris and all of Île-de-France. For a job close by, the visit, the discussions and the follow-up of the work are all the easier to organise.

Before pricing, we come on site: measuring the areas, checking the floor and walls, the threshold heights and access to the room. You then receive a quote item by item, from substrate preparation to grouting. To save time, see what information to prepare for a quote.

Old houses in the centre of Louviers

The centre of Louviers has many old houses, half-timbered, brick or stone, often over several floors. Their floors are rarely flat and the upper timber floors move more than a slab: we check how rigid they are, then choose a suitable preparation, such as a fibre-reinforced levelling compound or an uncoupling membrane, with flexible joints along the walls and the timbers.

In these houses, logistics matter too: a large-format tile does not always fit up a narrow staircase, and rubble from a strip-out has to come out without damaging the old fabric. We take this into account when choosing the materials and advise you on formats that suit the house.

Val-de-Reuil, Vernon and Gaillon: renovating more recent homes

In Val-de-Reuil, a new town founded in the 1970s, as in the detached houses of Vernon, Gaillon or Les Andelys, many homes still have their original coverings: a floor to replace, a bathroom to modernise or a bath to turn into a shower.

Before removing an old covering in a building whose planning permission dates from before July 1997, a pre-works asbestos survey is in principle mandatory, because some old floor tiles and adhesives contain asbestos. Once the substrate is sound, a bathroom renovation, a walk-in shower or a floor in wood-effect tiles gives the home a new look.

Terraces and outdoor tiling between the Seine and the Eure

A terrace that gets little sun stays damp for a long time and is quickly covered in moss. We choose a frost-resistant, very low-porosity, slip-resistant porcelain, laid with enough fall, bonded to a slab or as 2 cm slabs on pedestals: the details are on our terrace and outdoor tiling page.

French-window thresholds and steps need particular care: a slip-resistant stair nosing and a fall that carries water away from the house prevent most problems. To compare tiles, our article on UPEC, R11 and PEI ratings explains how to read a technical data sheet.

What a tiler costs in Louviers

In Louviers, as in the rest of the Eure, labour follows average provincial prices; in Île-de-France it is generally 20 to 30% higher. For standard-format floor tiling, allow on average €30 to €60 per m², excluding the tiles, depending on the substrate, the format and the laying pattern.

Our guides to tiling costs per m², screed and levelling costs and bathroom renovation costs detail the ranges seen in France. Only a quote drawn up after a visit is binding.

Frequently asked questions about our jobs in Louviers

Where exactly are you based?

In Louviers, in the Eure. We work throughout the Seine-Eure area, in Vernon, Gaillon and Les Andelys, in Évreux, about 25 km away, and in Paris and across Île-de-France. Give your town in your quote request: we organise the visit accordingly.

Is an asbestos survey needed before removing old tiles?

For a building whose planning permission dates from before July 1997, a pre-works asbestos survey is in principle mandatory before any removal, because some old floor tiles and adhesives may contain asbestos. It is carried out by a certified surveyor, at the owner’s request. We let you know during the visit if your home is concerned.

How much does tiling cost in Louviers?

Prices follow provincial averages: €30 to €60 per m² of labour for standard-format floor tiles and €50 to €90 per m² for large formats, excluding the tiles. The substrate, the format and the laying pattern change the price: only a quote drawn up after a visit is binding.

Do you also travel to Évreux and Paris?

Yes. Évreux is about 25 km from Louviers, and we also work in Paris and across Île-de-France, in houses and apartments. Our pages on Évreux and Paris explain what each area involves, from the old houses of the Eure to Parisian apartments.
